Maintaining the lifestyle of the residents was an important request: a grandmother who was moving closer to her grandchildren. The floor plan is all on one level, allowing for easy flow. The tilted design of the top slab reproduces the idea of a roof nearly embracing the neighbouring garden, where the grandchildren have fun. Underneath this slanted shelter, a long veranda stretches out. From the main entrance door, the visitor is led straight into the heart of the house, where the orientation of the rooms reinforces the feeling of a full house. The kitchen is a special area: the stage for a master chef. In the hierarchy of each space, the kitchen has the same importance as the master ensuite bedroom or of the living room. It is in the kitchen, an informal eating space, where important little moments are shaped by the aroma of recently prepared meals.
