Situated in a private condominium at the seaside in Xangri-lá, BR, Project House La Plage is a summer holiday home in a natural reserve, but it is used all year round. The conceptual creation of the project prioritized visual contact with the sea, which was not possible on the ground level due to the sand dunes that obstruct the view. An upside-down house seemed a logical solution: the ground floor houses the four ensuite bedrooms and the family room. On the upper floor, an ample living space consisting of an open plan gourmet island and kitchen, with adjoining toilet and two terraces, one with a pool. The external wood, stone and glass elements of the house are additional layers to the concrete constituent, which is a structural and aesthetic element. Inside, the environment is mostly monochrome: the slabs and the walls in visible concrete as well as the polished cement pattern vinyl floor are opposed by the Corian orange counter and by the gentle seaside blue hue visible in furniture elements, as well as via the reflections on the terrace of the blue tones of the pool.

To make the access to the elevated social area smooth, the entrance hall was situated half a flight above the garden, distributing the intimate and social areas in half flights. Volumetrically, the horizontal planes are the master line of the project.

In order to privilege the visual contact with the sea, made impossible at ground level by the dunes that surround the plot, the floors were inverted.

The spatial organization maximizes ventilation: in summer the sea winds are blown away by the façade, increasing the time of use of the open social spaces. In winter, the layout favours the use of the balcony.
