HOUSE PAMPA
80km away from Porto Alegre, BR, Project House Pampa stands on top of a hill with granite outcrops. Several dualisms were crucial in shaping this project: the cliffy terrain calls for an opposing flat house; the panoramic, south-facing view, represents a challenge in the search for the north sun, perfect for the winter in that region. The project consists of a long, horizontal structure, that gives the impression of floating over the rocky ridge, allowing the gardens to trickle down from it. To the south, high-performance glass guarantees transparency and thermal comfort. To the north, facing the city, wood panelling binds the project as well as functioning as a sun breaker, granting privacy. Internal courtyards maximise natural light and cross ventilation in all areas.
