RETIRO HOTEL
The main building for this hotel, 60km away from Porto Alegre, BR, in the mountain municipality of Morro Reuter, is integrated with nature by the application of materials commonly found in the region, such as wood and natural stone slabs that bear the likeness to dry stone walls. The windowpanes convey transparency. The annex buildings nearly blend in the environment, becoming part of the surroundings and highlighting the main building with the public area.
Four integrated modules structure the project: a public area, a quiet zone and a two-phased accommodation area. The hall hosts the reception desk, and the restaurant is in the continuous flow of pathways and staircases that lead the visitor to their destination. Accommodation areas are spread around the grounds, but always interlinked to the public area. The quiet zone, at a level lower than the ground floor, features a heated pool and a deck by the lake.
All bedrooms have pleasant views of the valley and privileged solar orientation. The corridors have side gardens that provide ventilation and natural lighting. Covered by vegetation as a green roof, the buildings are disguised in the hills forming a pleasant plateau reflected by the existing lake on the ground.
